White House Says Trump Using Preventative Skin Treatment For Neck Rash
The White House has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump is currently using a preventative skin treatment after a noticeable red rash appeared on his neck earlier this week. However, officials declined to provide further details about the condition.
The issue drew attention after photographs taken during a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House on March 2 showed a patch of red, blotchy skin on the right side of the president’s neck, just above the collar of his shirt.
The images quickly circulated online and prompted questions from reporters about the president’s health.

White House Physician Explains Treatment
Following the public attention surrounding the photographs, the White House released a short statement from Dr. Sean Barbabella, the president’s physician.
According to the doctor, Trump is applying a topical cream as part of what was described as a preventative skin treatment.
Dr. Barbabella noted that the treatment is temporary and is expected to be used for about one week.
He added that the redness on the president’s neck may remain visible for several weeks while the skin heals.
“The President is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks,” Dr. Barbabella said.
The physician did not elaborate on the cause of the rash or the specific medication being used.
White House Declines Further Details
During a press briefing on March 4, reporters asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for additional information about the condition and why the treatment was necessary.
Leavitt responded that she had no additional details to share beyond the physician’s statement.
The administration has therefore provided only limited information regarding the skin irritation.
Increased Scrutiny Over Trump’s Health
Health-related questions about Trump have received increased attention during his second presidential term.
At 79 years old, the president’s physical condition has been closely observed by both the media and political analysts.
In recent months, observers have noted visible bruising on Trump’s hands and occasional swelling in his legs, which has led to periodic questions about his health.
Previous Explanations For Bruising
Earlier this year, Trump addressed speculation about the bruising on his hands.
In January, he explained that the marks were related to his frequent use of aspirin, a medication commonly taken to reduce the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular issues.
The White House also stated at the time that one of the bruises occurred after the president accidentally struck his hand on a table while traveling abroad.
Ongoing Attention To Presidential Health
Health transparency for sitting presidents has historically been a subject of public interest in the United States.
Medical updates about the president often attract attention because the office carries significant national and international responsibilities.
While the White House insists that the neck rash is minor and preventative treatment is routine, the episode highlights how even small health issues involving a sitting president can quickly become a topic of public discussion.
For now, officials say the treatment is temporary and that the redness should gradually fade over the coming weeks.
